The project entailed replacing the 14-inch Nāpili No. 4 Force Main with approximately 1,900 linear ft of 16-inch DR18 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) C905 pipe, along with fittings and appurtenances. Excavation, backfill, and connecting to the existing sewer system were part of the project scope. Bypassing the existing sewer system during the tie-in, restoring existing improvements,
and completing all other necessary work were also included.
The project posed significant challenges due to the narrow roadways and the inability to close the road for construction. Night work was not feasible due to the close proximity to condos and homes, requiring careful planning and execution to minimize disruptions to residents.
